Strategic Advisory Board member
Tim Clissold was born in England but has lived and worked in China for the past twenty five years. After graduating in Physics and Theoretical Physics from Cambridge University, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant before moving to Hong Kong where he developed a fascination with China. He spent two years learning Mandarin Chinese in Beijing before co-founding a private equity firm that invested more than four hundred million dollars in China during the very early stage of China's economic reforms. Since then he has spent time at Goldman Sachs recovering distressed assets and more recently founded a business that develops greenhouse gas emission reduction projects and energy efficiency projects in China. His first book, Mr. China, was translated into 15 languages and was named as one of the Economist Magazine Books of the Year.
